Toast For The Macbook Pro

Sorry for the stupid question but I am very new to Apple. I recently purchased the new I Mac with intel core duo. I have the super drive that burns cd's and dvd's. I see people talking about toast, which I assume is a buring software? Is this something that I need or do I already have it? If someone could explain the program Toast for me (what it's for and if I need it), I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any and all help.

Purchased Roxio Toast Titanium 11(Mac) Jan 2018, worked OK till I updated my OS on my macbook to High Sierra 10.13.4 which now runs on 64bit from the previous 32bit making Toast Titanium 11 incompatable, I contacted Corel who suggested I upgrade to Toast.
